About Me
Mia Mackie, Certified Therapeutic Practitioner
I am a Certified Therapeutic Practitioner, based in Sussex. Having completed a Social Psychology degree at the London school of Economics, I attended the University of Arts, London, to complete a masters degree. Whilst studying, I tutored and mentored children, and did so for over 15 years alongside a career in the creative arts. With a continued interest in child psychology and emotional well-being, I decided that I wanted to train as a child therapist, and fell in love with play therapy as an approach which not only proved to be a highly effective intervention for children, but perfectly combined all my previous studies, experiences and passions. I truly believe that my journey to play therapy was meant to be, and it is an immense privilege to be able to support young children every day.
I am a member of PTUK, which is accredited by the Professional Standards Agency (PSA), and abide by the their code of ethics. I hold an Enhanced DBS and I am fully insured.
In addition to therapeutic play, I am also a PCAP (Parent-Child-Attachment Practitioner), and I have a particular interest in the fields of Attachment and Embodiment-Projection-Role (EPR).
My qualifications include:
Bsc Social Policy, Criminal Justice & Social Psychology (London School of Economics)
Post-graduate Certificate in Therapeutic Play Skills (Leeds Beckett)
Post-graduate Diploma in Play Therapy (qualifying 2025) (Chichester University)
Practitioner of Parent-Child Attachment Play (ClearSky)
